Sol methods
• ATR-FTIR
Water absorbs much of the infrared (IR) spectrum making spectroscopy in this region of the electromagnetic spectrum difficult. Dr. Tejedor has developed Attenuated Total Reflection techniques for IR (ATR-FTIR) studies of suspensions. This has led to the ability to the identity bonding mechanisms on these colloidal oxide interfaces, the structure of water near the surface and in pores and the role of pH in establishing this structure.
